Why We Dive

One Element. Two Missions.

Sponsors Logo

Water heals. Water challenges. Water transforms.

For nine freedivers, water is where we find our limits—and push beyond them. One breath, one stroke, one lap at a time.

For children with disabilities, water is freedom. It's confidence, safety, and joy. It's where Rainbow Club Australia works magic, teaching kids to swim who might never have had the chance.

This November, we're bringing these two worlds together.

81 kilometres underwater in 24 hours. No fins. No shortcuts. Just breath, rhythm, and purpose.

Every metre we swim changes lives. Every dollar you give creates opportunity.

I want to show my kids—and myself—that age, fear, and limits are just stories we tell ourselves. Water taught me that. Now it's time to pass that lesson forward.

— Michaela Werner, Team Organizer

Guinness World Record Holder

46, Newcastle, AUS

Guinness World Record holder, freediving coach, athlete, and mum of three — a lifetime student of water on a mission to live a deep, purposeful life.

After 40 years in the water, I'm still learning, still being challenged, and still amazed by what the human body and mind can do. Through this event, I want to inspire my kids to dream big and show the wider community what freediving is truly about — mastery of movement and breath born from relaxation, awareness and inner wisdom.

I've only been freediving for 5 years, however it's become absolutely central to my journey of personal development and self discovery, a journey not for me, but for the people around me who matter most. This event challenges the expectations of what is possible as we age. To do this for an amazing cause like Rainbow Club Australia makes it special on a whole other level.

The water has always been healing for me — unpredictable yet peaceful. Over 24 hours, we'll each find stillness through motion, knowing our effort helps children discover the same freedom.

I absolutely love a challenge and what better way to get to know ourselves and each other, whilst pushing our physical and mental limits and boundaries as a team, the water is such an amazing part of our planet and life especially in Australia, so what better cause to get behind than to help raise money to provide swimming lessons and support for Rainbow Club which offers a fun and safe community for children and young adults with a disability to swim, interact, and play.
